HYPNOTHERAPYbackWhat is Hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a collection of techniques which elicit the power of the subconscious mind to produce a profound healing. What does Hypnotherapy feel like? This is different for each person but effectively it is a state of deep relaxation rather than sleep, the mind is ‘awake’ at all times. I don’t relax easily, does this mean I can’t be Hypnotised? Not at all, if you have ever watched the TV and know you haven’t been asleep but couldn’t remember any of it, or if you have read a paragraph in a book several times but still can’t remember what it said or if you have driven from A to B and have no idea about the journey you have hypnotised yourself. The truth is we indulge in self hypnosis on a regular basis but aren’t aware that is what it is. Will I lose control of myself during Hypnosis? No one can be made to do anything under hypnosis that they object to strongly. We have all seen or heard about the stage hypnotist ‘making’ people bark like a dog or walk like a chicken but they can only do this if the person being hypnotised allows it; the same people given a command they morally objected to would immediately come out of hypnosis. What conditions can Hypnotherapy be of help with? There are many conditions which can be successfully treated or helped with the use of hypnotherapy, some of the ones I have personal experience of treating are: Stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, substance abuse, smoking cessation, weight reduction, performance enhancement, phobias, sleep disorders, sexual problems, confidence and self esteem. Why choose Martin White? I offer a totally free and confidential initial consultation, which means you can discuss your problem face to face and get advice on whether hypnotherapy is a suitable intervention for you. In addition, you can see for yourself with no obligation whether you feel comfortable with me as a therapist and you will not be pressured in any way to make a decision on whether to proceed with hypnotherapy at the consultation; nor will I harass you with phone calls or emails after the event if you decide not to go ahead. If you do decide to proceed you will only pay for the sessions you book, one at a time, with no prepayment necessary. As a member of both the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the General Hypnotherapy Register, I subscribe to their guidelines. |
